To our customers in the EU and Northern Ireland…
We’re very sorry to update you that, from Thursday, December 5th, we will no longer be able to accept orders from the EU or Northern Ireland, and shipping services will be suspended until further notice.
You may have heard by now that new EU legislation, the General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR), is coming into effect on December 13th and is set to impact many small businesses like ours. Unfortunately, the guidance around this has been very unclear, and much of the information has only become apparent in the last couple of weeks—hence the short notice!
While the GPSR’s purpose is a good one (to improve product safety and ensure all imports meet modern standards), the strict and complex criteria have made it virtually impossible for us to continue selling to customers in the EU and NI. Not only would we need to implement costly and complicated changes to our design, manufacturing and shipping processes, but we would also be required to employ an Authorised Representative based in the EU, who would be responsible for ensuring we meet requirements. As a small business, we do not have the resources to do this, nor can we risk the fines and legal consequences if we do not comply.
It saddens us to have to suspend shipping as we have an amazing community of loyal customers within the EU, and we are hoping this will only be a temporary measure. As it stands, you have until Thursday, 5th December, to order from any of our sites and get your festive orders in before we turn off EU shipping options. The changes come in on December 13th, but we’re halting shipments from the 5th to make sure your gifts reach you in time for Christmas.
We will continue to research other options in the new year and are seeking independent advice. As soon as we have an update we will let our customers know, so be sure to stay subscribed and keep following us if you want to be notified.
Thank you for being with us, and we hope to be making lovely gifts for you again soon.
